Considering conflicting tastes, we knew there was no good way to contrast them all, even if we had the chance to see them all. So, we chose the one that would seem nicest to come home to on a snow-white holiday night; and that was the home of Patrick and Deborah Beck at

200 West High Street

. With its garlands, wreaths, warm outdoor lighting, and candlelit windows, it stood out.

Holiday Season: time for fire safety

Filed under: General, Lighting — admin @ 12:58 am

If you are one of many who cook their turkeys, you need to be extremely careful around the fryer. Make sure that the cords are actually properly placed in a manner, which would not cause a trip hazard. Keep an eye on the fryer at all times too, it would not take much to start a fire with the hot cooking oil.

When putting up outdoor lighting and decorations be aware of the current draw of the outdoor lights and decorations and avoid using lightweight extension cords.

It would be time soon to purchase that real tree- we can not say it enough, be certain that it watered daily and please do not use candles. When placing the lights on the tree, again, be aware of the current draw of the outdoor lights and avoid using lightweight cords.

Outdoor lighting as art

Filed under: General, Lighting — admin @ 1:04 am

The following advice for you when planning outdoor lighting:

Choose luminescent lights over halogen. While halogens do produce a lot of light, they could burn hot and could also distort the color of plants, flowers and decor.Start with lighting the main “living space” - frequently a deck or patio - of your outdoor environment. You desire to light it well enough to be secure, yet creatively to create a specific atmosphere,

Outdoor cooking areas need ample light, and fixtures that shine light down onto the cooking area are best.

For paths, walkways, pools or water features, fixtures must pour light down onto the walking area, rather than reflect up into the eyes. Garden lanterns are great for this purpose.

Up lighting (positioning fixtures on the ground and directing them upward) and face lighting (placing the light source in front of an object) are the most well-liked ways to draw attention to the front of your house or a gorgeous tree, trellis or gazebo.
