Outdoor Lighting:

Any hard wired, low-voltage and solar powered lighting system, which is used in an exterior space. Outdoor lighting could enhance the beauty of your home, making it safer and even more secure. Outdoor lighting classically is an investment that pays off in the value it adds to a home.

Opaque:

A term that describes a material, which does not transmit any visible light. A wooden door, aluminum foil, and also bricks are all examples of opaque materials.

Outlet:

Point at which electrical wire attach to fixtures, receptacles, and switches.

Operating Voltage:

For electrical discharge lamps, it is a voltage measured across the discharge when the lamp is actually operating. It is governed by the contents of the chamber and in somewhat independent of the ballast and other external factors.

Open Fixture Rated:

Lamps that are accepted for burning in open fixtures (as opposed to together with this fixtures which have an acrylic lens or plate glass enclosure).

Over Voltage:

Incandescent lamps knowledge shortened lamp life when operated above their rated voltage.

Oriental Style:

Classic lighting is the popular paper lantern and shade style. Chinese and Japanese motifs might also be used to decorate table and floor lamps.

Outdoor Deck Lighting:

Deck lights typically mount to the outside of a home and to the railing of a wooden deck. Since they are located near where people sit, so good shielding and proper mounting height is important to reduce glare.

Outdoor Directional Lighting:

A system in which the work plane and an object is illuminated predominately from the preferred direction.

Outdoor Sconces:

An ornamental light fixture attached to the wall. Synonym: wall sconce. Not to be confused with a scone, this is absolutely flat.
